Where The Buffalo Roam
One of the ubiquitous trucks that worked on the 16th Street Mall Friday parks in front of a shop on the 16th Street Mall. Look closely in the background -- that's Obama in the shop window.
Site of the 1908 Democratic National Convention
The building in the foreground is a parking area for the Convention Center. The building in the background is the old Denver Auditorium, which hosted the 1908 Democratic National Convention. Today it serves as the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, one of several theatres located at the Denver Performing Arts Center at 14th and Champa Streets.
14th Street Mural by Alan True
On 14th Street, only one block from the Convention Center, one may find old 1930s-era murals hidden in the alcoves of buildings designed in the neo-Renaissance style. This is a mural by Alan True, an artist who also worked on the historic Brown Palace Hotel and the opera house in Central City.
Symphony Sign
An advertisement for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra hangs from the Denver Performing Arts Center, one block away from the convention center. The daily parades from Civic Center park down Speer Boulevard to the Pepsi Center will take a huge number of people right past DPAC's doorstep.
